My roots are in the North of England but I’ve been away from that area for many years! After I left college in London I travelled for 18 months, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. On returning to the UK I moved back to London and started working for a publishing company. I worked my way up the corporate ladder to become Publishing Director of 3 fashion magazines for emap, a FTSE 100 company, managing a team of about 45 journalists and sales executives.
I took a career break when I had my two daughters and have since worked as an event manager and a private PA.
For some time I considered training to be a counsellor, but after spending time researching the field I decided my strengths are better suited to addressing the present, not the past, and helping people move forward.
About me
I was drawn to coaching through a natural curiosity, empathy and a wish to help others. I trained with Animas, gaining a Diploma in Transformative Coaching. This is accredited by the International Coach Federation, the European Mentoring & Coaching Council and the Association for Coaching.
The training has been rigorous and is on-going, but I also use my life experience and natural intuition to aid my coaching style. Although the world is a different place from when I was a young adult, I clearly remember those uncomfortable feelings and negative self-talk, and know that working with a coach would have helped.
My heart always lay with working with young adults and that is where most of my experience lies. I realise that today’s world comes with extra challenges – let’s say it’s complex and unpredictable. Most of my clients fall in the age bracket of 18 to early 30’s. I have coached on many areas including confidence, anxiety, career path, relationships, parenting, and let’s just call it “life!”
My style is empathetic and present. However I’m not afraid to gently challenge for you to get the most out of your sessions. I do have a sense of humour and want you to have a bit of fun in this process.
I would have loved a coach in my twenties.
